Abstract

Netbook PC shipment volume is expected to double for full year 2009 when compared with shipment volume for full year 2008. Nevertheless, as prices of netbook PCs are falling considerably, netbook PC makers' profit margins are expected to be affected. In the future, it is anticipated that netbook PC growth momentum will slow down. In order to expand netbook PC market coverage, other than increasing product differentiation to stimulate demand in the existing mature consumer markets, PC companies also aim to seek new market opportunities in the education, commercial, and emerging market segments, as well as new distribution channels and new offerings. Furthermore, the entrance of new competitors such as Nokia and Apple is expected to intensify competition.
